FOUNDATION IN LONGEVITY AND AGING

A nine-part webinar series

developed by the Virginia Commonwealth University’s Department of Gerontology with generous support from Virginia’s Department of Social Services.

PREAMBLE

This nine-part series is an incursion in anchoring concepts of gerontology relating to longevity and aging, all set within the context of the current pandemic and with hands-on strategies, tools, and case studies.

Foundations in Longevity and Aging is a product of VCU’s College of Health Professions’ Department of Gerontology and the Longevity Project for a Greater Richmond. This online curricula series is intended for re-careering health professionals, emerging health professionals and those who desire rigorous, evidence-based continuing education. What you will experience is the best of the evidence-based best-practices based on decades of theory and application. Participants in this series can earn individual badges for completing each module and a micro-certificate for completing the entire series. We invite you to embark with us on this eight-part series while learning and applying some of the foundation concepts in longevity and aging.

Please ensure you read the FAQs below before completing your payment.

General Questions

What is a badge?

A badge is a digital image which verifies and describes your qualifications in specific content areas. Upon completion of any of our modules, you will receive a digital badge that you can place on electronic media such as your LinkedIn page, resume, email signature, etc. This will signify to others that you have become credentialed in the topic area of the module.

You can learn more about digital badging from the VCU Office of Continuing and Professional Education (OCPE): https://ocpe.vcu.edu/badges.html

What is the format for these modules? What do I need to access the modules?

All of the modules are pre-recorded lecture videos which are hosted in a web-based platform. This series is designed to be a self-paced study of some of the foundational concepts in Gerontology. You will need internet access in order to participate in these modules. Digital copies of handouts will be available to download. The evaluation form is a Google Form. If you have any trouble accessing the module content, quiz, or evaluation form, please contact Kim Ivey at ksivey@vcu.edu.

What is a micro-certificate?

The micro-certificate is awarded for anyone who completes all nine modules in the Foundations in Longevity and Aging Series. In addition to receiving the individual badges, participants in this series will receive a certificate recognizing their accumulated achievements in completing all of the requirements for Foundations in Longevity and Aging. To receive this micro-certificate, participants must register for all nine modules, complete all learning activities including viewing the videos and completing the post-training quiz, and complete the evaluation form following each individual module.
